The reading passage contends that green roofs that are common phenomenon in the world have many advantages over conventional concrete roofs. On the other hand, the lecturer brings up several points that contradict this argument.
To begin with, the lecturer insists that adding the green roofs will not solve the shortage of the city parks. This is because even though the green roofs can create 20,000 square feet of park space, there is no point if residents cannot access to the new park space. This refutes the reading passage's claim that the green roofs can be a solution to the limited city parks.
In addition, according to the lecturer, the green roofs can't give a great view to the residents. One reason is that most people use sidewalks. So they can't see the view of them located in the above residents' sight. This casts doubt on the reading passage's claim that the green roofs would provide beautiful views to the residents.

Although the living roofs can save in energy costs, their installation costs and maintenance costs are very expensive.
